Mara & Adam’s Baker Beach Engagement Session in San Francisco, California

Not every love story fits into a neat little box — and Mara and Adam’s story is a beautiful reminder of that truth.

While it’s not my place to share every detail of how heartbreak turned into something so deeply meant to be, one line says it perfectly: “God bless the broken road that led me straight to you.” Their love is layered, intentional, and full of meaning — the kind of connection that feels steady, warm, and real.

Mara and Adam have not only found the love so many people dream of, but they’ve also blended their lives to become a beautiful family of three. When I first met them, you would never know their story didn’t begin together — only that they belong together now.

Engagement Photos at Baker Beach, San Francisco

We met at Baker Beach in San Francisco, California, one of the most iconic and popular photo locations in the city. As a Sonoma County wedding photographer, this was surprisingly my first time photographing an engagement session at Baker Beach — and it absolutely took my breath away.

After weeks of rain in early 2024, we weren’t quite sure what the weather would bring. But when I arrived in San Francisco that Saturday morning, the skies were bright blue, the air was clear, and not a single cloud was in sight — the kind of day photographers dream about.

A Family-Focused Engagement Session

Adam’s son, Levi, joined us for the first half of the Baker Beach engagement session, and he completely stole the show. We played in the sand, chased waves, and searched for seashells along the shoreline — creating moments that felt joyful, playful, and incredibly meaningful.

When Mara, Adam, and I later wandered up the hill into the trees, we shifted into a quieter, more intimate part of their session. The hillside above Baker Beach offers one of the most stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, creating a perfect backdrop for romantic engagement photos.

Whether you’re a San Francisco engagement photographer or visiting from Sonoma County like me, it’s hard to imagine ever getting tired of a view like that.

Looking Ahead to Their San Francisco Wedding

I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate with Mara and Adam again when they get married this June in San Francisco. Their engagement session at Baker Beach was a beautiful reflection of who they are — grounded, joyful, and deeply connected — and I already know their wedding day will be just as meaningful.
